Who we are

Education for Life (EFL) leads initiatives dedicated to nurturing well-being within the Israeli education system and municipal and business communities. EFL was founded in 2001 by the leaders of Gamida For Life group, (a concern in the field of medicine and biotechnology) with a vision to improve interpersonal communication and to promote well-being in the Israeli education system.

As partners of the Learning for Well-Being Foundation, our initiatives are deeply rooted in cultivating supportive and inclusive societies where everyone can fulfil their unique potential and contribute to a kinder world. For over two decades, we have led groundbreaking initiatives to foster children’s well-being. We have implemented impactful programmes within educational, municipal, and business communities to effect positive change founded on principles of decision-making processes and partnership of all members of the community.

Our actions are possible thanks to the generous support from GAMIDA, whose contributions have been instrumental in advancing our vision and expanding our reach.

Our approach

Our work is guided by the Learning for Well-Being (L4WB) approach—a dynamic, human-centred method for fostering human and social development. This approach views child development as a complex and intricate system and defines well-being as ‘realizing one’s unique potential through physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual development in relation to oneself, others, and the environment.

’ The L4WB framework functions as an ecological model, emphasizing the mutual dependence and interconne ction between children and their environments. It plays a pivotal role in cultivating a practical and effective child-friendly ecosystem.

This framework affirms that each child has a unique potential that should be nurtured in mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions. It also recognizes inner diversity—the inherent patterns of functioning that shape each person’s way of being, growing, and learning.

At the heart of the L4WB framework are core capacities, our most fundamental human abilities to connect with ourselves, others, and our surroundings. These core capacities include: relaxing, embodying, observing, sensing, reflecting, listening, enquiring, empathising, and discerning patterns.

By nurturing these capacities, children can cultivate their inner diversity, improving their ability to interact with and understand the world around them and fulfil their unique potential.
